AVID

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), is a program currently available to seventh through twelfth grade students.  The program targets students in the academic middle—B and C students, who have potential to be A and B students, the desire to go to college, and are willing to work hard for it.
Students learn organizational, note taking and study skills; work on critical thinking, inquiry, and discussion skills; get academic help from peers and tutors; and participate in enrichment and motivational activities that make college seem attainable.

The AVID curriculum, based on rigorous standards, is driven by the WICOR method, which stands for writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.
